If you’re not a Louisiana resident, are 18 or older, and are a full-time student enrolled in an accredited college or university that has a physical campus in the state of Louisiana, you may purchase recreational fishing and hunting licenses for the cost of resident licenses.
To purchase a student license at the reduced rate, you must provide LDWF with the following:
- Verification of your full-time status.
- You must have your student identification card indicating current full-time status in your possession while fishing or hunting under your student license.

Student Licenses are available from LDWF Headquarters at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge during normal business hours, 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. You can also mail your application with all required documents and a check, money order, or cashier’s check for your license fees to:

Basic Hunting Season License
- Cost: $20

Includes: Authorization to hunt, take, possess or transport any wild birds or quadrupeds.
- Additional special licenses are required to hunt, take, possess, or transport deer, turkey, or migratory waterfowl.
- Required For: All hunters, except those exempt by law.
- Duration: Valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.

- Cost: $12
- Includes: Turkey tags.
- Prerequisite: Basic Hunting Season License.
- Required For: All turkey hunters.

- Includes: Archery, primitive weapon privileges, and deer tags.

- Prerequisite: Basic Fish Season License.

- Cost: $100
- Includes: Basic and Saltwater Fishing Licenses; Basic, Deer, Waterfowl, and Turkey Hunting Licenses; and the Res/NR WMA Access Permit.
- Excludes: Federal Duck Stamp and Res/NR WMA Camping Permit.
- Duration: Valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
