The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) offers a comprehensive hunting license for residents and non-residents under the age of 18 years old. Below is the available license and its details:

• (0092) Youth Hunting
  • Cost: $5
  • Includes:  Deer and turkey tags.
  • Required For: hunting deer and turkey, trapping, and youth lottery hunts
  • Duration: Valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
  • Additional Info: No ID or proof of residency is required for the purchase of this license. The youth license is not required when hunting squirrels, rabbits, or woodcock.

• (0323) Deer Tags
  • Cost: Free
  • Prerequisite: Youth Hunting License.
  • Required For: All deer hunters.
  • Duration: Valid until June 30.

• (0310) Turkey Tags
  • Cost: Free
  • Prerequisite: Youth Hunting License.
  • Required For: All turkey hunters.
  • Duration: Valid until June 30.

• (0161) Federal Duck Stamp
  • Cost: $29.79   
  • Required For: All waterfowl hunters aged 16 and older, including those exempt from purchasing a hunting license.
  • Duration: Valid July 1 - June 30 (federal fiscal year).

Every person, even those under 18, must have their own separate LDWF account. You cannot buy a youth license under another person's account. Purchase of a (0092) Youth Hunting license can be completed through any of the following options:

• In-Person: Stop by the LDWF Headquarters located at 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA.
• Local Retailers: Many local retailers across the state sell hunting licenses.

What to Expect with Online Purchases

• If you purchase the youth license online, please note:
• You will NOT receive a physical license in the mail unless you purchase a (0300) Hard Card License.
• Instead, you will receive:
  • An email with the temporary authorization number and a PDF of your licenses. You can print the PDF or save it to the electronic device you plan to take fishing.
• LA Wallet App: Louisiana residents with a valid Louisiana driver’s license or ID card can use the LA Wallet app to display their purchased LDWF licenses on their smartphone.
